a vintage modern vignette

A little bit vintage, a little bit modern.. I am a sucker for mixing design styles. Traditional with eclectic, brass with silver, shiny and new with textured and old, the list goes on and on. My eye is drawn to thoughtfully collected layers in all shapes, sizes and materials.

Insert this little living room vignette. Layers on layers of what I will affectionately call, organized chaos, lol.

It all begins with the vintage gold gilt mirror I’ve had from my mom since I left home for college ( whew, 17 years ago) so it’s graced many many homes with me! I wanted to pair something so worn and ornate with something fresh and new! I’ve always had my eye on the CB2 lacquered linen horseshoe console and it was the perfect juxtaposition of complete opposites for me. Then I threw in two mongolian fur stools under the console to add softness and a third texture to the mix. On top, the ever so adorable crystal Terri lamp! I am constantly moving her around the house because she just creates a ~moment~ everywhere she goes… from the bar cart, to the mantel, to the bookcase and beyond, I can’t get enough of her!  And of course to finish any good vignette, throw in all the little tchotchkes ~ books, coasters, crystal, trays, matches, candles, magazines.. it’s the curated personal pieces that make it feel like home!
